Finnix, the LiveCD for system administrators

Intel Macintoshes are fully supported by Finnix x86. Finnix may be booted though the rEFIt bootloader, or as a guest under Parallels. Core Solo/Duo Macs (Mac Mini Intel, first generation MacBook/MacBook Pro) require Finnix 88.0, while Xeon/Core 2 Duo Macs (Mac Pro, second generation MacBook Pro) require Finnix 89.0. Additionally, Xeon Mac Pros must be booted from a USB CDROM drive, as current Linux kernels have problems with the Mac Pro CDROM drives.

[edit] Finnix booting using rEFIt

  1. Install rEFIt
  2. Insert Finnix CD
  3. Reboot computer
  4. Select Linux CD icon from boot menu
  5. That's it!
