SATA disk on SIS966l not showing

I can't get my SATA disk to work in Finnix with my new ECS motherboard, sis966l. I tried loading the sata_sis module but it doesn't work.

However, I just stumbled across this: http://lwn.net/Articles/221831/

And as you can see on the last line (that's what I call luck :-)) now there is support for this chipset. What I would like to know is: how can I make Finnix work with this thing? Or how can I compile this newer libata, since I assume Finnix uses an older version?

I do a lot of maintenance work, and Finnix is just perfect for the job. It is REALLY important to me to get SATA disks working. Thanks a lot for such a great distro.

I've eventually got the SATA disk working on another distro based on Knoppix, Kurumin Linux. However, I had to use a special boot parameter, "all-generic-ide". Does FINNIX has anything along those lines?
